And the only reason why someone would start an assassin. Well, for like 90% of the players.

NO THAT IS A LIE!!!!@@!!11!!!one
many people would start an assassing for manyyyyyyy reasons, not just for the shadow form
1) they look very cool like a ninja or stealth killer or something
2) naruto was an awesome anime
3) they do big damage and have very good survivability due to their stealthy surprise attacks and stealthy block/dodges
4) the girl assassins are HOTTTTT (very skinny not fat like all those other female professions in the game)
5) they can shadow step that is so cool no other profession can do that
6) they are better at farming so it's easier to farm gold capes with them than, say, a warrior frontline
7) Real
8) Ultimate
9) Power

as you can see there are at least 9 other reasons why someone would pick an assassin besides stupid shadow form.

also i anticipate Big Things to happen this april update. from all the hype and anticipation i've read on the internets it seems Big Things are afoot over at anet.

For the team and players to realize that the unending nerfs only temporarily placate a vocal minority who will never be happy with things for long, and end up alienating people and driving them away from the game.

People calling for perma nerfs now were the same ones who called for Ursan nerfs. While the nerfs did severly cut down on Ursan teams, it didn't increase non ursan teams to anywhere near the same amount. It just halved the amount of pugs I'd seen, and the other half are all now demanding cryway.

People are still crying for perma nerf? Good grief. Might as well make it the next smiters boon (pvp). Then whats next? Cry? 600/smite? Every farming build that exists?

Even if perma gets nerfed again, there is gonna be a new build that people will find. Gah, people are never satisfied. Well on here anyway <.<

Deldrimor Armor to count in HoM.
More storage space (obviously)
Ursan back. (We all miss it..your lying..or a PvPer if you say otherwise)
Drunkard to be point based (not really realistic)
A new Elite mission =D
More PvE skills
places to hold my books/tomes
Aion release date (=D Not related at all, but I want it!)
Larger Friend List, or at least the ability to see who is online in alliance guilds.
More cross campaign quests.

Linsey posted on her wiki that she has no time to fix skills like shadow form. Don't expect they do anything to any farming build because it's not important. What IS important? Expanding my storage which I don't need at all. Anet is a joke.

I've considered the skill to be a problem from the moment I took over Live Team. The decision to restore the ability to maintain it was made while I was still working on gw2. The first round of changes (the initial dmg reduction and the changes to chaos plains) were being made when I first moved over. From there, I have pushed us to try a few different ways to balance the skill because I still felt it was a problem. If people are still doing UWSC in 15 minutes then I think it is pretty clear that the skill is still a problem. - Image:User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 18:24, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

::::::::::We have already made ~4 attempts to balance this skill without breaking Perma but nothing has really worked thus far. We don't want to be constantly messing with individual skills and try to let things stabilize a bit before tweaking something again. By the time we made the last changes to SF, I was feeling like it would need to be the last time we fiddle around with tweaking it's power. That we might be hitting the threshold where the best course of action is to concede the fight and admit that perma just can't be supported in this skill. I'm not sure what to do now. The idea of giving up on this skill being balanced just gives me a pit in my stomach but I don't have time right now to give this the time it deserves. I'm going to hold off on making any changes until I have the time to play around with it and try something things out on the Dev Server. Unfortunately when I start thinking of what there is ahead of me, I can't find any moments when I'll have the time to invest in balance investigations and testing. Of course, I am suffering from tunnel vision lately and all I can really think about is April. Everything past then is all fuzzy and up to radical change at a moments notice. I put up a post-it that says "Shadow Form perma still a problem" and I'll try to let you guys know if/when I start thinking about and looking at this issue again. - 15:34, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
People who don't have an assassin yet should create one right now.

Ok, basically I'd like to see the following finally...

More storage, book storage, etc...

I'd also finally like to see a trader for Inscriptions and weapons mods, or an update to the weapons traders...

The Shadow Form debate is totally ridiculous. Assassins, welcome to despise once again if it goes away. Not because they're not useful, but because everyone is an idiot and will underestimate their survivability and damage dealing capabilities outside of a Shadow Form build.

Personally, I'm insanely tired of hearing about it, still. I ran infinite Shadow Form before the skill was ever buffed in the first place, and everyone constantly undercut the effectiveness of the build. Now, oh em gee, nurf pl0x. Screw you, go home. Find something else to do besides complain.

If it's not one thing, it's another. I don't understand how unbelievably high the level of immaturity must be for a whole community to become entirely enthralled by one single skill and forget the fact that two months before it was a different skill, and therefore not deduce that if the current one dies it will just be something else.

There are still plenty of skills that have NO purpose, and personally I think the elite buffs in the last number of updates have been incredibly fun to play with. Do something for the people who aren't crying all the time: continue to buff unused elites and make more builds possible. I hope to see more of that and less idiocy from people who only focus on whatever they perceive to be negative.

Still, I'm excited about the April update. Unlike a lot of the same aforementioned people, there are a great number of us that are greatly anticipating ANY upgrade to the way items are stored and will be glad to see whatever ANet has given us.

Excuse me, since when Zrank is a pvp emote?
You're not excused. SO zrank is a pve emote? Please feel free to explain.
Tourney pts (pvp) = zkeys Balth faction (pvp) = zkeys. Tourney predictions (pvp influenced) = zkeys. HA chest rewards (pvp) = zkeys

Im not seeing how zrank isnt a pvp emote. You can farm money on both sides of pve and pvp to buy zkeys.....so thats a complete wipe/draw. Theres no direct reward on the pve side for zkeys other than money.....so that pretty much makes it NOT a pve title. Whats left?

*raises hand* /pickme oh oh oh i know ..i know.. PVF

I mean i guess i could be neither, but most influence is through pvp.
PVF = player vs Farm

Indeed.... agree.

And NO, I nevver have used Ursan myself... But come on.
Asking to nerve for expample SF. when that is the nearly the only thing that
keeps the PvE alive at this moment. Its used for farming sure, but so what.
its used to tank in dungeons and Urgozh as wel.

All those people asking to nerve PvE related things should really think twice to
mine opinion.
To make a big impuls tot the game again in PvE... Reset the droprate of
the normal drops as it was, give more explorable area, bring more funny
consumables, let every weapon be dyeable including dragons swords etc.,
Bring suprises in existing worlds as big bolders roling thru the landscapes,
Dont give a ..... about economy start thinking about the fun.

If they start to do that. Than Ill think we can play for many months more.
And after the almost 4 years that I'm playing atm Ill really wouldnt mind
to play many months more with funny elements in the game.

Its drops people want, its funny and suprising drops people wants .
What harm can it do that so now and than rarely a transformer tonic drops
just somewhere in the open field, or some brulee or what so ever.

If they stop those special item weekends, and make all those things as rare
drops thru out the land, than there wont be a need to farm any more, and
than SF will be used as a tank build.

What ever just keep the fun in the game.. And dont ask for freaking nerfs of
what ever..

ITS PvE... not PvP

lol, this entire thread turned into a big "what I want for x-mas" wishlist instead of thoughts on what the April update might include.
The big April update we're duscussing here will be about the HoM and storage. There might also be a monthly skill balance update, but that's a seperate update.
If you don't need anymore storage, and therefore feel it's unimportant, then that's your opinion. It doesn't mean this will be an unimportant update. Lots of people have asked for improvements in storage space, and I for one am glad Anet has considered improving it
Furthermore: who cares if the zaishen title is PvE or PvP. I'd agree with the PvP reasoning above, but honestly: who cares?
And lay off the SF whining. As posted before Linsey said they changed it 4 times already, and people still complain. Just leave it as it is now. It's still possible to perma, but it requires better energy management then before. So it's not simply pressing 1-2-3 anymore, but still possible. I think that's just fine. Leave Linsey to work on important things, like improve skills that are never used atm.
And also, please, keep this thread friendly. The constant flaming eachother is so immature. People have different opinions: deal with it.

Back on topic:
I quoted some interesting thoughts here 2 pages back, but here's what I think might actually happen:

* 1 extra account wide storage tab that can hold 10 different dyes and 10 different normal tomes.
* some kind of armor storage (gods I hope so) per character. (perhaps in the HoM itself)
* some kind of minipet storage (perhaps in the HoM itself)
* books will not require any storage slots anymore, but will be integrated into a seperate window (or the [H]ero window), so you only have to get one, place it into the therefore meant slot, and that's that. Your characters will have all books on them all the time.
* HoM will be made account-wide: has been explained before. You can go see the HoM per character, or per account. You can switch views anytime you want. How the account-wide HoM will look is unknown so far. Minipets/hero's/weapons/titles will most likely simply be added together, but the armor shrine is something else. (will it show the armors you got per profession as they are now, or will you see the "type" of elite armor for the profession of the character you brought into the HoM? If so, how would certain armors show that aren't available for non-core professions...)

extra hopes:
* increaded money cap
* increased materials cap (but not likely as that would mean some complicated changes to the coding/servers which I read somewhere but forgot cuz it's abracadabra to me)
* increased inventory space (runes of superiour holding? +5 per bag?)

I'm actually really looking forward to this. I'm someone who likes to store lots of stuff, just in case I need it later (new hero's equipment, guildies in need etc.). I hope I can clear out my second account, so I won't have to search as long as I need to now to find that certain item I need and I know I have stored somewhere :P
